I told a friend that they had to watch Adventure time and then immediately followed by telling them Lumpy Space Princess is funny and she's probably my favorite princess.

TLDR, 30 year old straight man talking about how much he enjoys princesses on a children's television show.

I've been called childish and/or pedophilic, but not gay. Either way, I tell them that I'm into cartoons because I'm looking to be an animator. That usually shuts them up, because the person who calls you such things have nothing going in their lives. Fill them with envy I'd say... even if your "path to an animation career" ain't true.

Yep. Solid stuff. Very 90s in the best of ways.

Gets a bad rap because kids who think psychosis and gore are cool and edgy latch onto it. Vasquez gets harped on for his unconventional and rather messy style but I think it's charming.

That said, my arthritic nostalgia's actin' up again. Gonna go break out my Bauhaus and NIN albums and smoke in the dark.

I love JTHM (especially his take on heaven, BOOM!), don't own a copy though. I had a choice between buying that and SQUEE's Wonderful Big Giant Book of Unspeakable Horrors which I'd never read before. Gotta love Vasquez.

not quite sure if this belongs here, but what the hell.

So pretty much everybody knows that the Thor movie has Heimdall and Hogun are black and japanese.

People throw a fit, rightly or wrongly.

But I heard a rumor from the intertubes that the producers made them a different race was because they didn't want neo-nazis idolizing this move or something like that.

Anybody know about this? Or is that just bullshit?

It's just PC gone too far. If the cast should be all white, then make it all white... They shouldn't have to fear being called racist simply because they chose actors that look like the characters they portray and is historically accurate.

In the real world, none of the Norse Gods are black or Asian so why should their fictional counterparts have to be?

Personally, I'm not bothered by the movie adaptations not following continuity. I see them as another "earth".

Further, I am thoroughly enjoying the story of Miles Morales in the Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man. I don't find him as annoying as Peter Parker for some reason. Comics have always been good about taking a chance. If it isn't what the reader wants it gets thrown right back in their face.

What is it preaching, exactly? Where's the message? What is this story telling you to do?

Nothing. The point is that Clarissa's life is horrible and we feel for her. There's no "donate to RAINN" sticker at the end of the comic, there's no "Stop Child Abuse!" tag, no one is asking you for money or to join a neighborhood watch. It's just a story. It doesn't want anything from you.
