Not the same, but related.
Though the book you're looking for seems like a more interesting read.

This is the book I used for data structures and algorithms I, hope it can be of some use to you.

We use Haskell and C++ and I already have quite a few books on algorithms, but thanks anyway. I was more curious about the subject itself (how computer science relates to mathematics, etc. I've been interested in the formal bits for a while) than looking for material for the class.

Like wise, if I find anything that relates closer I'll make sure to post.

If you can find a PDF of it: Martin Fowler's Refactoring

It's one of the better code maintenance books. I liked it a lot better for comprehensibility, readability, and programmer friendliness over Robert Martin's Clean Code.

Well, I think I found something. I don't know if it's the same contents as the other book because I couldn't find a table of contents for it, but I'm guessing this plus a book I bought at the faculty on first order logic is close enough.

The only thing I have on that is the NASM manual, and a link for x86 & x86_64 OPs.
Though you could just google for those.
Or do you have something more specific in mind?
Though the most I could figure one would find on the subject is writing for device drivers, embedded systems and maybe scientific calculations.
Otherwise I suggest you get an assembler, find your OP codes and have at it, not much to it.

I feel bad reading this thread and not contributing anything, but this is the only other book I have aside from the C++ Primer, which was already posted ITT.

So if anybody wants to make games with Flash, this is actually a fairly good book.

I actually have that book, it gives some pretty good beginners examples on debugging, which is something many programming books won't show you outright. the actual book comes with a modified knoppix dvd as well, so far it's been pretty good

Someone asked for a python book. While I'm not really in a position to judge, this taught me Python and it was a really good book. This is for Python 2.7, which is the more popular version; however, if you want the 3.2 version, use this: http://www.swaroopch.com/files/byteofpython/byte_of_python_v192.pdf

I hate the 1000 page books for beginners(of something), where something basic like loops are taught in the page 300. Which of these books are tight stuff, if you know what I mean.

Learning perl 4 & 5 use the first two chapters for beginner stuff, and then get into more perl specific things like regex.

the C programming language is only 272 pages and you learn a great deal within them, new and old

also thanks, I've been wondering about a LISP book
